Cottage Garden Hardscape – Truro

This garden had been loved and cared for by the clients elderly parents for many years, but now was in desperate need of a revamp to suit the clients busy life.  Whilst retaining a traditional cottage garden feel, she wished to incorporate plenty of space for the children and grandchildren to enjoy.

We developed a plan based on garden rooms, giving each of the three interconnecting terraces its own atmosphere and purpose.  The large lawn was reshaped, the stone wall was repaired and the steps were relocated to improve the circulation and balance of the space.

The arches and large grid trellis were custom made to fit the space.  To give the garden a cottage-like but cohesive feel a combination of large format, mixed size paving and paving setts were used.  These were all Kandla grey sandstone by London Stone.

Planting suggestions were outlined and the client is now enjoying planting up the garden at her own pace. She is finding the space far more manageable and less overwhelming before.
