From gravel drive to a garden of rooms

The client for this project longed for an intimate garden to wrap around the house and provide privacy and relaxation.  Currently the property had an uninspiring garden to the front and a long gravel driveway to the side.

Our approach with the long thin side space was to create a series of garden rooms.  A dining terrace at the rear led though a parterre area then on to a sunny outdoor lounge.  In the front garden, existing stonework was reshaped, an old stone bench re-used and a gravel garden installed.  Due to change of road usage, a new secure fence was built at the front of the property and this further enhanced the sense of privacy. For this area the client selected beautiful Bruges cobbles by Kronos and this soon became the favourite place to relax in the evening with a glass of wine.

The client oversaw the construction of this garden during Covid and much of the construction work was completed by her talented partner.
